GET YOUR INSURANCE FOR TRAVEL
Regardless of your goals or travel style, travel insurance is a must when visiting Vietnam. You absolutely need a solid coverage that will cover you in the event of an accident if you’re considering renting a motorbike, cycling, trekking in national parks, or engaging in any water-related activities.
For longer journeys, I suggest SafetyWing; read my thorough review to find out more about the benefits and drawbacks.

CHOOSE YOUR VISA
It’s likely that you have a wish list for Vietnam already. The next step should be to apply for a visa to Vietnam. With your most important document in order, you can focus on planning your itinerary and determining the logistics for a hassle-free trip.

Needless to say, your first goal should be to get your visa in order. You should purchase one well in advance because every traveler needs one.

BE CHOOSY WITH YOUR ITINERARY AND AVOID TRYING TO SQUEEZE TOO MUCH IN.
Being a supporter of unhurried travel, I usually suggest taking it slow, particularly if it’s your first time. It takes at least three full days to tour big cities like Saigon and Hanoi. Using the cities as a starting point, take advantage of the best day excursions in Vietnam to see more of the country.
It takes time to learn about Vietnamese customs, cuisine, and culture, which differ by region. Your experience might not be as fulfilling if you rush through it and attempt to fit too much in.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t be mislead by Vietnam’s lackluster appearance on a map.

BOOK YOUR TRANSPORT TO THE AIRPORT IN ADVANCE.

Because utilizing cabs in Vietnam might be scary, I suggest getting a Vietnamese sim card and downloading a taxi app as soon as you reach your first destination.
If you want to get started as soon as possible, my best recommendation is to reserve your airport shuttle in advance so that you won’t have to worry about getting to your first lodging. Because cars are so inexpensive and make life so much easier, I still plan ahead for my airport transportation even though I travel to Vietnam quite an often.

SELECT THE IDEAL TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT
Because of its topography, Vietnam’s north and south have quite different climates. Many tourists are ignorant of this and mistakenly assume that the temperature and weather would be consistent during their trip.
Spring (March to April) and fall (late September to early December) are frequently the finest times of year to travel to Vietnam. The south and the beach are not overly hot, and the north is still not too cold.
Never forget that the weather is unpredictable and might bring everything from intense heat and evening storms to biting cold and regular downpours.

Prior to selecting the right season, you must be confident of your destination.
